Monday, March 7 was a star-studded evening at the Cutting Room in New York City. The Ultimate Jam Night, presented by the David Z Foundation and Fox Glass, featured School of Rock Clark, ZO2, Paulie Z, Joey Cassata, Mark Mendoza, Alex Skolnick, Chris McCarvill, Chandler Mogel, Chris Caffery, Constantine Maroulis, Gene Rowan, Greg Smith, Steve Augeri, Matt Starr and many others. One of the highlights of the evening was by budding DZF artist Kobi Reese.
Kobi participated in DZF's Music Mentor program which focuses on youth mental health. Throughout the course of the program, participants use songwriting to process trauma, difficult or uncomfortable feelings, or social issues. Kobi wrote a song about how the pandemic has been affecting his experience called, "I Want to Be Happy." His joy, enthusiasm and musicianship really shine in his performance. Throughout the course of the evening, over $8,000 was raised for music education between donations and sponsorships. Other sponsors included Jason Adam Photography, Bob Productions, Misplaced Straws and Tag Tappers. Funds raised will help subsidize program costs for DZF programs across the globe including South Africa, Argentina, Australia, and schools across the United States.
